The OPGW (Optical Fiber Composite Overhead Ground Wire) is a multi-functional aerial ground wire designed for high-voltage transmission systems. It serves the dual purpose of a traditional ground wire—providing lightning protection and conducting short-circuit currents—while simultaneously acting as a high-speed optical communication medium. It is primarily utilized in 110KV, 220KV, 500KV, and 750KV power systems.
