All Dielectric Self-Supporting Optical Fiber Cable
Self-supporting aerial, especially applicable for installation on the same pole as 220V and below power transmission lines
ADSS All-Dielectric Self-Supporting Optical Fiber Cable (2-288 Cores)
The ADSS (All-Dielectric Self-Supporting) cable is a specialized fiber optic cable designed for aerial installation on power transmission lines without the need for a metallic support wire. It features a loose tube stranded structure that provides exceptional durability and electrical immunity, making it the standard choice for modern telecommunications infrastructure along utility corridors.
Core Product Features
- All-Dielectric Construction: Contains no metallic components, ensuring immunity to electromagnetic interference and safety when installed near high-voltage power lines.
- High-Tensile Aramid Strength: Reinforced with layers of aramid yarn (Kevlar) to provide the necessary tensile strength for long-span aerial applications.
- Environmental Protection: Available with standard PE (Polyethylene) sheathing or AT (Anti-Tracking) material to prevent electrical erosion in high-voltage environments.
- Water-Blocking Technology: Features a multi-stage waterproofing system, including water-resistant filling compounds in the loose tubes and water-blocking tapes/yarns throughout the cable core.
- Broad Capacity: Supports a wide range of fiber counts from 2 up to 288 cores to meet varying network density requirements.
Technical Performance Parameters (Ref)
The following table summarizes key physical and mechanical properties based on the cable’s outer diameter:
Outer Diameter (mm) Weight (kg/km) PE / AT Max Allowable Working Tensile (kN) Break Strength (kN) Suitable Span (m) (NESC Standard A) 11.8 117 / 124 4 10 160 12.6 133 / 141 10 24 370 13.5 155 / 163 18 45 570 14.4 177 / 186 26 60 750 14.8 195 / 204 34 85 880 Note: “D” in technical calculations refers to the actual diameter of the cable.
Professional Applications
- Power Transmission Corridors: Specifically engineered for installation on the same poles as 220V and below power transmission lines.
- Self-Supporting Aerial: Ideal for overhead spans where a lightweight, high-strength, non-conductive cable is required.
- Extreme Environments: Built to operate reliably in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +70°C.
Internal Construction Layers
- Outer Sheath: PE or AT material for primary environmental protection.
- Aramid Yarn: High-strength synthetic fibers for tensile integrity.
- Inner Sheath: A thin PE layer that provides additional protection to the core.
- Loose Tube: High-modulus tubes containing $250\mu m$ fibers and water-resistant jelly.
- Central Strength Member: A non-metallic FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) rod at the center of the core.
- Water-Blocking Components: Tapes and yarns to prevent longitudinal water migration.
