ClientWestern European Tier-1 Telecom Operator

Project Background

A leading European telecom operator planned to upgrade its FTTH backbone network infrastructure across three regional provinces. The upgrade aimed to support the large-scale deployment of 5G NR fronthaul services and meet the rapid growth of residential broadband bandwidth requirements (upgraded from 1 Gbps to 10 Gbps PON). The core project requirement was to deliver 120,000 meters of single-mode fiber optic cables within 50 days. Strict technical indicators were specified: the average attenuation per link ≤ 0.35 dB/km at 1310 nm and ≤ 0.20 dB/km at 1550 nm. All products fully complied with CPR B2ca and RoHS 3 industry standards.

Project Challenges

  • The operator’s long-term tier-1 distributor supplier lacked sufficient production capacity to meet the tight delivery schedule.
  • Full lifecycle traceability was mandatory, covering the entire process from preform production to finished cable testing.
  • LSZH flame-retardant cabling was required for all internal wiring segments of Optical Connection Nodes (NRO).
  • All cables were required to be factory pre-terminated with SC/APC connectors, with individual Fluke test reports provided for each finished cable assembly.

OWIRE Customized Solutions

As a vertically integrated fiber optic cable manufacturer, Owire deployed full industrial chain capabilities to deliver a one-stop solution:

  1. Midstream Extrusion Production — Adopted high-speed LSZH extrusion production lines to manufacture G.657.A2 ULL indoor/outdoor fiber cables with loose-tube and tight-buffered structures. All products were strictly marked and certified to CPR B2ca-s1a,d1,a1 fire safety standards.
  2. Downstream Cable Assembly & Testing — Completed automated factory pre-termination of SC/APC patch cords. Products were polished in accordance with IEC 61755-3 international specifications. Insertion Loss (IL) and Return Loss (RL) tests at 1310 nm and 1550 nm were conducted via IFS-3000 3D interferometer and Fluke CertiFiber Pro professional testers.
  3. Direct Factory Logistics Service — Provided customized OEM packaging and customer-specified Pantone color marking. Adopted direct container shipping from Shenzhen to Antwerp, completing full delivery in only 32 days.
